Intro: Why Buy A Mattress Topper?
There are a lot of valid reasons why someone would want to purchase a mattress topper. Maybe you purchased a new mattress and it’s the wrong firmness or feel, maybe your kid is going off to college and you don’t want them to suffer on those god forsaken dorm mattresses.
Essentially, it’s a great way to change up the general feel of your mattress or add thickness without having to drop $1,000 on a brand new bed. Like mattresses, toppers come in all shapes and sizes so it’s best to do a little research before you make a final decision. Continue along in our post to find out everything you need to know about the Molecule Mattress Topper.
Molecule And Their Company Policies
Molecule gained its popularity after superstar athletes like Tom Brady and Alex Morgan ditched other luxury beds and endorsed Molecule as their official mattress of choice. Now, the brand has incorporated the materials that made their Molecule 2 bed so special into a comfortable mattress topper so you can experience the feel on just about any mattress.
When you order Molecule’s mattress topper, you’ll receive free shipping and a 30-night trial to make sure it’s a good fit for you. If by the end of the trial you decide you’re not the topper’s biggest fan, don’t sweat it — you can return it for 100% of your money back.
On the flip side, let’s say you love the mattress as much as Tom and Russell do. In that case, the topper will be backed by a 5-year warranty in case of a manufacturing defect. If you want to read up more on Molecule’s different company policies or want to know more about the company in general, head on over to their website.
Pricing For This Topper
The Molecule’s topper isn’t the cheapest one we’ve seen thus far, but it’s not the most expensive either. We’d say that it’s comparable to the Casper Topper, and it’s pretty accessible to most people. Here is a breakdown of the pricing based on each size.
SIZE | PRICE (MSRP) |
---|---|
Twin / Twin XL | $249 |
Full | $279 |
Queen | $299 |
King / Cal King | $349 |
Molecule often runs discounts on their beds, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see some promotions going on for their topper as well. At the time of writing this post, for example, they’re giving away a free king pillow with the purchase of any topper. To keep up with current discounts and prices, head over to Molecule’s website.
Three-Layer Construction
A lot of toppers on the market are designed to be one big slab of foam, but that isn’t the case for the Molecule Mattress Topper. It’s actually 3″ thick and divided into three different layers in order to provide a solid amount of support, airflow, and comfort — of course.
The first layer is 1” thick and is what the company called “RECOVERYFLO,” which acts as the firm support layer for the rest of the topper.

Next is a 1” slab of proprietary material (made by the company, for the company) called “AIRTEC,” and it has an open-cell construction for the purpose of providing significant airflow throughout the topper.
Finally, there’s a 1” top layer of “MOLECULARFLO,” which is also used in the brand’s Molecule 2 mattress. On the site they claim it offers five times more airflow than your typical memory foam, and it’s made from comfortable polyurethane foam (a.k.a. neutral-foam). This helps the topper sleep more on the cool side of the temperature spectrum.

The cover also helps keep you cool with its embedded cooling fibers which help regulate temperature on the surface. It’s made with 51% polyester, 47% polyethylene, and 2% elastane. Additionally, if you happen to get a stain or spill on the cover, you’re in luck. The cover is machine washable; all you have to do is wash it with cold water on a delicate cycle, and tumble dry on low.
You’ll be happy to know all of the foams inside the topper are manufactured in the United States using patented tech called Variable Pressure Foaming. To spare you the boring details, all you really need to know is that they follow strict environmental regulations and the process reduces emissions by a whopping 97%.
Comfortable Foam Feel
Memory foam haters can rejoice because the Molecule Mattress Topper really doesn’t have that viscous memory foam feel that turns a lot of people off. The Molecule 2 mattress has a new-age memory foam feel, and we honestly think you get that in their topper as well. The only trace of a memory foam-like feel is in the top layer, and it’s hardly noticeable when you lay it. We think the topper feels more like standard foam, if anything.
On a scale from soft to firm, we’d rate it around a medium. In our opinion, it offers a good balance of support and comfort, and is a good option for sleepers looking to neutralize their memory foam bed or change the firmness to something more in the middle.

With this in mind, we think most sleepers will find this topper comfortable, whether you’re a side, stomach, back, or combination sleeper.
Molecule Topper Verdict
So do we agree with a few of the world’s best athletes or would we pass on this topper? We’d say it depends on who you are. If the price doesn’t bother you and you aren’t interested in a memory foam topper, this is a really great option — especially if you’re a hot sleeper.
It sleeps cooler than other toppers we’ve tested out thanks to its special construction, plus it’s mighty comfortable. You can always try it out, and fall back on their 30-night trial if you find you don’t see the value in it.
