Overview Of Nest Bedding Owl Review
The Nest Bedding Owl Hybrid Latex Mattress is one of Nest Bedding’s most popular eco-friendly options, made with natural and organic materials that lets you feel comfortable and healthy every day when you wake up. You should know that this is a premium latex mattress that isn’t for the cheapest of budgets, but you’ll likely see value in it if you appreciate more sustainably-manufactured products. Read on to find out who this mattress is perfect for, and what we thought of it at the Slumber Yard!
Nest Bedding Owl Mattress Construction
If you just glance at the Nest Owl Mattress, you can tell it’s not the typical online bed. In other words, it’s not a three-layer memory foam mattress that’s primarily targeting college students and people on a tight budget.

In terms of the construction of the Nest Owl mattress, it has five separate layers and measures over 12” thick:
- Cover: Soft, quilted organic cotton and Joma wool
- Top layer: 1.5” “Eco Flex Quilting Foam”
- Middle layer: 3” OEKO-TEX certified Dunlop latex foam
- Middle layer: 1” 1.5lb eco-friendly “Comfort Foam”
- Middle layer: 6” “Caliber Edge Coil Support Pocketed Coils”
- Bottom layer: Dense, firm latex support foam
The Nest Owl is a well-built, premium mattress that you will (hopefully) look forward to sleeping on. We know we enjoyed our time testing it out, and it’s one more plush natural and organic beds we’ve tested here.
Nest Owl Feel & Firmness

The Owl Mattress is offered in more than one firmness level, and you can choose between plush, medium and firm. You can also take your firmness preferences a step further by purchasing a split model. For split models, your options are plush/medium, medium/firm, etc. This is a feature we don’t commonly see with natural and organic mattresses, and we’re impressed that Nest Bedding offers it.
As you can see in the graphic above, each of the firmness levels falls on a spectrum. This is because softness/firmness will change from person to person. A more petite individual will experience a bed to be firmer than a heavier person would.
As for how the mattress feels, well, it’s more neutral and bouncy (i.e. no stuck-in-the-mud feeling). As mentioned above, the bed kind of feels like one big responsive pillow. It’s comfortable—almost dangerously comfortable.
Temperature

We wouldn’t say that this mattress sleeps particularly cool, nor would we say that it sleeps hot. It’s more neutral overall. If you sleep slightly warm, neutral, or slightly cool, we think you’ll be just fine with the temperature regulation of this mattress.

Will Couples Like the Nest Owl Mattress?
Pleasing one person is difficult as it is, but when you throw a second person into the mix, there’s a lot more to consider.
Edge Support

This bed doesn’t have the best edge support we’ve ever seen, but it’s no slouch either. Also, softer coil beds tend to be worse than firmer coil beds for edge support.
Motion Isolation
This mattress is surprisingly good at limiting motion transfer. When we performed our motion isolation test with a glass of water on the bed, he water moved around a little, but not much. So we think it passes in this category, especially considering this mattress has coils.
Price Of Nest Bedding Owl Mattress
Given that this is a premium mattress, Nest charges above-average prices, but not by much. In fact, we think this is a fairly affordable bed and a good value.
Here’s a pricing breakdown of the Nest Owl mattress.
SIZE | PRICE |
---|---|
Twin | $1049 |
Twin XL | $1249 |
Full | $1449 |
Queen | $1699 |
King | $1899 |
Cal King | $1899 |
Because Nest competes in the fast-growing, hyper-competitive online bedding industry, they do offer mattress coupons and deals. As you might imagine, during major holidays, such as 4th of July and Black Friday you can get the steepest discounts. That said, Nest typically runs promotions year-round. The exact promotions on the Nest Latex Hybrid mattress change from time to time, but you can click here to see current specials/discounts on Nest’s website.
Nest Owl Mattress Review Verdict
We’ve covered a lot in this Nest Bedding Owl review, so let’s recap the most important points. This mattress is all about health, options, durability, and comfort. If that’s what you’re looking for in a bed, you’ll probably really enjoy the Owl Hybrid Latex Mattress. Sure, it’s not the most affordable bed on the market, but it’s not trying to be. This is a premium bed that’s made for someone looking for latex foam, coils, and a big pillow-top.

Company Policies When You Buy This Bed
Regardless of which mattress you buy online, there will be a few baseline policies that you will get (and should expect). Nest Bedding offers many of these industry-standard policies.
- Risk-free trial period: 365 nights
- Warranty policy: Lifetime
- Shipping: Free
- Returns: Free
In addition to the lifetime warranty, Nest has a lifetime comfort guarantee, which acts sort of like insurance in the event that you change your mind after night 101. What this comfort guarantee allows you to do is purchase a softer or firmer, smaller or larger Nest mattress at 30% of its current selling price. It’s pretty out-of-the-box thinking, but we appreciate that Nest goes the extra mile. We only know of one other company (WinkBed) that also has a comfort guarantee.

- Los Angeles, CA
- Minneapolis, MN
- New York, NY
- Palo Alto, CA

Nest Bedding Lifetime Renewal Exchange
In 2021, Nest launched its Lifetime Renewal Exchange program that allows customers to renew the comfort layer of qualifying mattresses. It’s the first time a mattress company has ever launched an initiative like this, so it’s pretty big news. Here’s what we know.
What is Lifetime Renewal Exchange (LRE)?
Nest Bedding’s LRE is a guarantee that can be redeemed at any time after purchasing a qualifying mattress for free. You can only renew the comfort layer for your bed once. The mattresses that currently offer the LRE program are the Sparrow Signature Hybrid, Owl Natural Latex Hybrid and Finch Natural Latex.
How does LRE work?
If you purchased a Sparrow, Owl, or Finch mattress from Nest Bedding and feel like it’s time for an upgrade, all you have to do is contact customerservice@nestbedding.com. The company will then ship you a new comfort layer.
Why the LRE program?
To help the environment! Even though Nest Bedding offers high-quality mattresses, the comfort layer is not exempt from normal wear and tear — meaning that, with time, you’ll have to exchange your mattress. With the LRE program, you can extend the life of your mattress by renewing the comfort layer. By doing this, you don’t have to replace your mattress, and you help reduce waste.
Comparing Nest Bedding Owl vs. Nest Robin
There are several notable differences between these two Nest Bedding mattresses. While both beds have a hybrid construction, the Nest Bedding Owl uses premium latex foam inside, whereas the Robin is mainly made from coils. The Flip is significantly cheaper than the latex bed, coming in at $799 for a queen. It’s also available on Amazon, while the premium Nest bed is not. However, both beds are well-suited for all types of sleepers.
Comparing Nest Bedding Owl vs. Avocado
In many ways, the Nest Bedding Owl and the Avocado mattress are quite similar. They’re both hybrid beds that are made from natural and organic materials, including latex foam and coils. Avocado only comes in one firmness option, but the Nest mattress has three. The prices are pretty close as well, but the Avocado is just a bit cheaper at $1,399 for a queen.
