Casper Mattress Topper Reviews
If you’re in the market for a new mattress topper, it could be for one of several reasons. Maybe you purchased a new mattress and it was a little too firm for you. Maybe you or your child is about to leave the nest, and start their first year as a college freshman in the dorms. Or, you may have recently purchased a new Casper mattress and you want to make sure it lasts as long as possible (or any new mattress).
Mattresses can be an investment for some people, and toppers help your mattress endure spills, stains, and normal wear-and-tear so you can really get your money’s worth. Instead of spending time and money on buying a new one, consider something like the Casper Mattress Topper. In this review, we’ll discuss our thoughts on the mattress topper from the online mattress industry’s biggest name, and reveal who we think it’ll be most suitable for.

Casper Topper Materials And Construction
We’ve had several memory foam toppers and one neutral-foam topper come through our doors here at The Slumber Yard, but latex toppers are somewhat rare to see. This topper is also constructed with three layers, another unique trait we don’t see too often.
- Base layer – the first layer is made with viscoelastic foam, which is essentially just memory foam
- Middle layer – Composed of latex infused with graphite which is good at absorbing your body heat, allowing you to sleep cooler throughout the night
- Top layer – Made with “alt-latex,” (it’s basically polyurethane foam or neutral foam) and it finishes off the topper with comfortable plush feel
We reached out to Casper’s customer service for further explanation on the foam, but they couldn’t disclose the in-depth details. What they could tell us though, was the foams are hypoallergenic and Certi-PUR certified. That means they were made without mercury, lead, PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP (flame retardants). They’re also constructed with tiny holes for enhanced airflow, which is another feature that helps prevent overheating.
Casper Mattress Topper Reviews Cover
The cover is made with two different materials. The top is made from 82% Polyester, 16% Rayon, and 2% Lycra, so it’s soft when you run your hand across it. You can learn more about the design and materials on Casper’s website.
The bottom is made with 72% Polyester, and 26% Acrylic Latex which isn’t exactly a comfy surface to sleep on. Instead, it’s designed to adhere to your mattress, that way your topper doesn’t go sliding around when you make your bed or lay on top of it. We also think its weight contributes to how well it stays put on your mattress, because the queen size topper (the one we received) is 30 lbs on its own.
The cover is removable, but that doesn’t mean it’s machine washable. And the last thing you want is to run it through the wash, and find it doesn’t fit back around your topper. We suggest you check the wash instructions on its care tag so you avoid ruining the cover. It recommends that you spot clean with mild detergent, and hand wash with cold water if need be. Do not throw the cover through the dryer or again, you’re at risk of shrinking it. Leave it out to air dry instead.
Mattress Topper Firmness And Feel
We think the Casper Mattress Topper feels like a soft foam lover’s dream. It’s plush, light, and overall really nice to lay on. It offers gentle support, without compromising its soft feel. We would compare sleeping on the Casper Topper to sleeping on top of a ton of cotton balls, or a fluffy cloud.
We think all sleeper types would enjoy it, especially side sleepers. It’s really pressure relieving, so it’ll feel nice against the sides of your body. On the flip side, we also think it’s supportive enough for back or stomach sleepers.
In most cases, this topper will probably end up making your mattress softer, unless your bed is already on the far side of the spectrum towards soft. But if you have a medium or firm mattress, this will make your bed feel softer for you.
Due to its open-cell structure, it sleeps a little cooler than toppers constructed with memory foam. With that said, we don’t think it necessarily sleeps cold. This one just helps you from getting too hot in the middle of the night, so we think it sleeps pretty temperature neutral.
What Does The Casper Mattress Topper Feel Like?
Price Table For This Topper
You can get a Casper Mattress Topper that fits almost any mattress size: twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, and CA king. A twin size topper starts at around $195, and the price for a king/CA king topper goes up to about $355.
We certainly wouldn’t call categorize Casper’s topper as a budget topper, but it’s not the priciest one we’ve ever seen either. To give you some perspective, it’s more expensive than “Amazon’s Choice” topper Linenspa, but less than the TempurPedic Topper. So it may not be great for somebody with a cup-of-noodle budget, but if you’re not price conscious, you might think the price is well worth it.
Casper Mattress Topper Review Verdict
If we’re completely honest, we think this is one of our favorite toppers we’ve ever tested next to the Tuft & Needle topper we put on our Best Mattress Topper list. Its construction is pretty uncommon compared to other toppers on the market, and it’s a pleasure to lay on. So if you can look past the price of the Casper Mattress Topper, and you’re looking to soften up your mattress, we definitely recommend trying this one out. Worse comes to worst, you can return the topper for a full refund if it turns out you don’t like it as much as we did.
Casper Company Policies
Casper knows you’re going out on a limb when you order a product online, and they want you to be sure you love your new topper. So if you decide to give it a try, you’ll receive:
- Free shipping and free returns
- A 100-night trial
- A 10-year limited warranty
If by the end of the trial you decide you want to return it, get a hold of Casper’s customer service and they’ll kick start the refund process. If you decide to keep it, you’ll be covered under warranty for an entire decade. Compared to most toppers we’ve tested like the Lucid Topper and Allswell Topper, ten years is pretty dang generous. We always recommend you look at the fine print of their policy, though, just so you know what you’re getting yourself into.
How Will My Casper Mattress Topper Arrive?
The Casper Mattress Topper will show up in a seemingly small box for its size, but it’ll be rolled up and compact. Just take it out of its packaging and unroll it over your mattress. You don’t need to let it sit like you do with most bed-in-a-box mattresses, it’s ready to go as soon as you unbox it.
Just as a pro-tip—put aside your receipts in a safe place just in case you want to return it, or if you want to make a warranty claim later down the line.
